Groomsport Beach – Currently closed

Opening Status: Weekends through July and August. Bookings should be made by families or individuals at least 3 days in advance. Available for group bookings on request.

There are blue badge parking spaces near the toilet block in the car park.

At the storage door on the left-hand side of the toilet block.

 There are ladies and gents toilets and Changing Places facilities. These facilities are all located in the car park. The Changing Places is accessed by radar key. If you do not have one, please ask attendant on site.

The toilets and changing facilities are located in a car park, take extra care around traffic.

Portrush East Strand Beach – Currently closed

Opening Status: Daily July and August. Group bookings available on request.

There are blue badge parking spaces, specifically for users of the Inclusive Beach, at the back of the utility block. To access these spaces turn onto Strand Road. There is also blue badge parking in the main carpark. Parking charges apply to all spaces, including blue badge users.

There are ladies and gents toilets, a disabled toilet and full Changing Places facilities. These facilities are all located in the block facing the car park near the beach. The Changing Places is accessed by radar key. If you do not have one, please ask attendant on site.

The Mobi floating wheelchairs can only be used in the sea on RNLI patrolled beaches and must be used between the red and yellow flags. The RNLI Lifeguards have the discretion to withdraw the chairs from use depending on weather and sea conditions, so please follow their advice. 2 competent adults must accompany the floating chair and user, remove the strap from the front of the chair and store it in the pouch on the back of the chair. The use of your own buoyancy aids and wetsuits is encouraged. Take extra care around traffic. On exiting the storage unit, you must turn right and take the main pathway to the beach. Beware of the steps leading to the beach. We recommend that 2 people assist the equipment user to navigate the ramp to ensure their safety.

Benone Beach – Currently closed

Opening Status: Daily July and August. Group bookings available on request.

There are 2 reserved Mae Murray Foundation parking spots before you go onto the beach, allocated for pick up and return only. These spaces are located below the amenity block at the beach. Parking on the beach is free of charge.

At the storage block behind and to the right of the amenity block.

There are ladies and gents toilets, a disabled toilet and the facility to book changing equipment, you can book a shower chair, changing bench and hoist. You MUST bring your own sling if required. These facilities are all located in the toilet block. The disabled toilet is accessed by radar key. If you do not have one, please ask attendant on site. If you need to transfer using a hoist outside of the changing facilities, it is available to book.

Cranfield Beach – Opening 21st April

Opening Status: Weekends and Bank Holidays only in May and June. During this time only land-based chairs will be available. Daily July and August – Floating chairs available. Weekends only in September. Group bookings available on request.

There are ladies and gents toilets, a disabled toilet and the facility to book Changing Places standard facilities, you can book a shower chair, changing bench and hoist. You MUST bring your own sling if required. These facilities are all located in the car park. The disabled toilet is accessed by radar key. If you do not have one, please ask attendant on site.

The toilets and changing facilities are located in a car park, take extra care around traffic.

Portstewart Strand - Currently Open

Opening Status: Daily from 17 March to 30 September. Weekends only – rest of year. Group bookings available on request.

The National Trust kindly allocate parking free of charge, for equipment loan scheme bookings. Parking bays are marked within the beach blue badge area.

Go to the Mae Murray Foundation safety flag, in the parking area on the beach.

There are unisex toilets, a standard disabled toilet, and a Changing Places Toilet onsite. The Changing Places Toilet can be accessed using a radar key. If you do not have one please ask the National Trust. Changing Place Toilet equipment includes toilet, shower, height adjustable changing bench and hoist. You MUST bring your own sling if required. Both toilets are located behind the cafe, above the car park. Currently, at Portstewart, the only hoist is the ceiling hoist within the Changing Places toilet. If you require a hoist to transfer from an indoor wheelchair into a beach wheelchair, it must take place at this location. Please make yourself known to National Trust staff at the handover point (in the carpark), who can move the beach wheelchair for you.

There are no water-based wheelchairs in Portstewart. Equipment can only be used on the beach area, up to the water’s edge and to and from the toilet block. Beware the steep narrow pathway to the toilets, particularly on return to the beach. Take extra care where the path meets the beach in case of traffic. When accessing the toilet block, be aware there are steps to the left-hand side, which may be a hazard if moving quickly.

Newcastle – All-terrain wheelchair loan scheme – Currently Open

Please note: Newcastle is not an Inclusive Beach. We have one all-terrain beach wheelchair available to loan on an individual basis.

Opening Status: Available any day if booked at least 7 working days in advance.

Booking: You must book equipment at least 7 days in advance.

You can borrow equipment for up to 1 week. You must be able to store equipment safely whilst it is in your possession. You may use the equipment to go wherever you like in the local community during this time provided the terms and conditions are adhered to.

You can borrow equipment for up to 1 week. You must be able to store equipment safely whilst it is in your possession. You may use the equipment to go wherever you like in the local community during this time provided the terms and conditions are adhered to.

The National Trust store the chair at Glenmona House, 10 Glendun Road, BT44OPX. On arrival, please make yourself known to a member of National Trust staff.
